Mint Mobile reviews: Data configuration after Activation

You have to buy a starter kit in order to get going with your Mint Mobile service. You can buy the $5 Mint Mobile starter kit from various online realtors, just do a quick search online. It’ll come with a SIM card and all the directions you need to get started.

Once you’ve got everything set up on your phone, it’s time to do the data configuration after you’ve activated. In order to start the data configuration process, go to the settings on your phone (any phone) and look for “Network and Internet”.

Next, look for “Mobile Network”. You will need to add your Mint Mobile APN to get started using your data. A mobile device has to have an APN to connect with the data carrier. APN stands for “Access Point Name”. The APN has all the information you need to set up your data.

Mint Mobile will provide you with the APN once you get started. You will need to enter Name, APN, Port, MMSC, and APN type. Once you’ve have put in all of the information from Mint, you can return to the APN screen. You should have the option to select the new APN. Now, restart your phone and you’re good to go.

What happens if I have an older iPhone?

If you have an older iPhone (meaning it isn’t capable to run iOS 12.0 or higher) then you follow the same steps above.

1. Go to your settings app on the home screen.

2. Click “Cellular” from the menu.

3. Make sure that your cellular data and LTE are turned on.

4. Go to the Cellular Data option and enter the following information:

APN: alpha

Username and Password: (leave it blank)

MMS –

APN: wholesale

Username and Password: (leave it blank)

MMSC: http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc

MMS Proxy: (leave it blank)

MMS Max Message Size: 1048576

MMS US Prof URL: http://www.apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

Restart your iPhone and now you’re on your way to data usage.

What if I have a newer iPhone?

If you have a newer iPhone (meaning it is an iPhone 5S, 5SE, 6 or higher) then the settings will update automatically, just as long as you have set the Carrier settings. To update the carrier settings, go to Settings, then General, then About, and last select Carrier.

If it asks you to update your carrier settings, then select update. Once you update your carrier settings then you will also enable visual voicemail, Wi-Fi calling and texting, and VoLTE enabled calling.

If you come into any issues with setting up the Data (whether it be an Android, iOS, or other) contact Mint Mobile customer service for advice, answers, and troubleshooting. You can contact support through chat on mintmobile.com, email, or phone.
