I read this week that the most holiday destinations in 2009 for Britons are Florida and Egypt. Florida has apparently seen bookings increase by a massive fifty per cent when compared to numbers in early June of last year. You may have already guessed why there has been such a large increase in bookings (and no there isn’t an addition to the Mickey Mouse family
).
The answer is down to exchange rates. The pound compared to the dollar has steadily being getting stronger; one year ago we would be lucky to get $1.50 for $1 with rates now around $1.65. This means families can certainly get a lot more for their money and with companies across the tourism industry discounting many of their products or offering special promotions, including luxury holidays like Walt Disney World, there are many great deals available.
Florida holiday sales will be further fueled by poor exchange rates for the pound against the Euro. More and more people have been looking for holiday destinations outside the Euro zone which I suggest you do too. Great value locations include Bulgaria and Turkey as well as Egypt.
However when you are thinking about where to holiday this year do compare with European destinations as many have been severely hit by the economic crisis and although it may cost more for certain things you can save money when it comes to hotel rooms. Spain in particular has reported many of their hotels have hardly any bookings with many sadly have already closed.
To get the best value deal this summer use the internet to search for deals and when you have find a couple of good deals you can contact the brokers and attempt to get yourself some better prices or better rooms by bargaining with them.
To conduct your research you can use one of the many holiday comparison websites which each offering different options for you to search under and having varying holiday information in their database. So it is recommended to take information from various sites and compare them to find the best deal for your holiday.
