Try Using Solar Motion Lights on Your Property for Security and General Illumination – By Den Williams

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Solar motion lights supply a fantastic way of illuminating particular areas and boosting the security of your home. They consist of a PIR (passive infrared) motion sensor, connected to a rechargeable light.

Excellent for yards, paths, drives and garages, solar motion lights require no external source of power or upkeep and ought to last for a very long time before they have to be replaced. Not having to connect these lights to an external power supply means installation is incredibly simple – you just attach the light, along with its accompanying solar panel and motion detector, to a suitable post or wall and you’re finished!

Solar motion lights typically use a group of several powerful LED lights to provide illumination. This is because they require minimal power and last for many thousands of hours without requiring replacement. It is common to see lights using a group of up to 100 separate LEDs. 40 LEDs generate approximately the same light output as a 12 W halogen lamp. Also, they’re extremely safe, since no high voltages are required, and the LEDs give off no appreciable heat. If you need stronger illumination, then you can simply purchase more units.

The majority of solar motion lights use a detachable solar panel to supply the power to charge up the power pack contained in the light. Because it’s not attached to the other parts of the light, this permits you to locate it in the best position to receive the greatest amount of sunlight – this means it is possible to locate the light itself in a shaded area without any problem. Though a lot of devices are meant to be fitted high up on buildings, etc., quite a few are available which have stakes which can be driven into the earth, delivering a lower-level light.

PIRs (passive infrared detectors) are the typical means used by these devices to sense movements. It is easy to position the sensor so that it points to the most appropriate area. Most PIRs used will have a 180 degree field of view, and will detect movement out to between 30 and 80 feet.

Quality models will allow you to set both the duration of illumination when the device is triggered, and also the distance at which movement will be detected. They should also only switch themselves on as a particular level of darkness is reached, in order to avoid unnecessarily depleting the battery in during daytime.

Fresno Hood Sales Company also Provides HVAC Services – By Farazandeh

Wednesday, May 26th, 2010

FRESNO, PLACENTIA AND LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA — Getting quality work completed in a timely manner and at a cost-efficient price is the goal of nearly every restaurant construction project.

American Professional Services (APS-Hoods), a commercial exhaust hood company that offers
Fresno hood sales and other services, is making that goal a reality for general contractors in Fresno and other California cities by offering heating, ventilation and air conditioning installation services in addition to its services for commercial kitchen range hoods.

APS-Hoods is a full-service provider of Fresno commercial hood installations, repairs, services and inspections. The company has offered HVAC services for the past nine years, but never put a great deal of advertising effort into the service until 2008 when general contractors began requesting it, said Massoud Farazandeh, chief executive officer of the Placentia and Fresno hood cleaning company.

There are multiple areas of expertise in the mechanical engineering field, including water heaters, heating units, boilers, hood exhaust fans and HVAC systems, to name a few.

“Generally speaking, the contractors who specialize in HVAC don’t have a lot of knowledge regarding kitchen hood installation,” Farazandeh said. “But since it’s mechanical in nature, they can figure it out.”

In addition to getting more requests for HVAC services from general contractors, the Fresno hood installation expert began to realize that some area restaurant owners and managers were calling on HVAC contractors to do hood installations.

“It’s better for the restaurant owner to have a hood installation expert who also is experienced in HVAC work to do both of those jobs if they know that is an option that is available to them,” Farazandeh said. “It potentially saves them money and creates less headache typically involved with having multiple contractors trying to work around each other on a job.”

It’s beneficial to general contractors, too, as they have one company that is proficient in both areas that they can turn to. There also are benefits when it comes to the actual installation process. Using one company for all the air handling aspects of a project minimizes redundancy in set-up, streamlines permitting processes, allows for optimum air balancing, requires less paperwork and lowers costs by five to 10 percent. Considering that these restaurant mechanical engineering projects can range from $50,000 to $500,000, that is significant savings, Farazandeh said.

Many of the hood system preparations overlap with HVAC preparations, so doing those simultaneously keeps costs down. As an example, significant savings occur when renting equipment. Renting a crane at $200 an hour and renting special ladders and scaffolding adds up, especially when several contractors are charging those fees to the general contractor or the client. Farazandeh said.

The permitting process also costs less when one contractor pulls all of the necessary permits.

“Those little things can add up when you’re spending money on them, and they can result in significant savings when you aren’t paying individually for those little things from each subcontractor,” he said.
