While watching a horror flick or a murder mystery we come across various scenes in which actors come into sight to be deformed and in a bone-chilling version. This is probable through the latest developed technology of a three dimensional makeover. Almost every movie involves this sort of a mak eover for its cast whether it is a comedy movie or horror movie depending on the scene.

A three dimensional make up is one of the most interesting forms of makeover. It gives a complete transaction of the physical structure of a person with the help of products, methods and builds up distinguished effects. All these procedures are then used to pull and push or mold the actual skin into something that fulfils the requirement of the character in the scene.

There are a few materials essential to apply this procedure of a three dimensional makeup. In olden times, prosthetic applications were usually made by hand using almost every likeable food item, gauze, cotton, and horsehair. Nonetheless, these days the stuff used are foam rubber, silicon and gelatin.

Foam rubber is processed clinically to form latex rubber. Latex rubber is usually used on the stage for giving the actors an aging appeal and casting shell prosthetics. Foam rubber is more accepted and commonly used on television. Although it quickly holds on to the skin and gives a realistic look to whatever form you stretch it to you but it does not give the real effect of the flawlessnss of natural skin.

Whenever foam rubber do not turn up to be that useful, gelatin was used, but time proved that it did not adhere to the skin fittingly thus failing to give a realistic look and can be easily identifiable on television. Therefore, it was only used for stage. As the resolution of televisions got better, silicon was being used as a subst as it is soft and can easily adopt a since form.

Silicone gel filled prosthetics was discovered for soft skins. The stretching and pulling procedure have been used on various characters on television as Marlon Brando in godfather used this method to create excessive wrinkles. In an encyclopedia it was mentioned that you could even use nut shells to swell your nose or change its shape.

If you want to try it out yourself, it is a very simple technique. You can start-off by using the substance alginate which dentist typically use. First, spread it out on the actors face and make sure you create a mold of your desired model that you want to create. Put a couple of bandages on it if you want the mold to come off easily and make sure you evade using it too close to the nostrils and the person is able to breathe freely.

When you are done with this step, the mold has hardened enough, eradicate it softly, and you can carve in the designs and fill it with latex or silicon. This is the hardest step if you succeed with filling it you are ready with the soft mold to apply it to the skin.
