Vancouver Invisalign Provider Debates the Merits of Invisalign vs. Traditional Braces - By: Vancouver Orthodontist Dr. Aly Kanani

Vancouver BC – "When I suggest the Invisalign system to patients, they always ask me how it differs from traditional braces," notes Dr. Aly Kanani, a Vancouver invisalign provider. "I explain that Invisalign is just another way to shift teeth into position, but they're moved by clear plastic instead of metal braces." There are some times when conventional braces may be better than Invisalign, but there are a lot of situations where Invisalign is the superior treatment. Your orthodontist can tell you which option is best for you.

"Unfortunately many patients, and even some practitioners, believe that Invisalign treatment is limited to correcting fairly minor dental problems, while braces are better for more complicated cases," observes Dr. Kanani, a Vancouver braces specialist. However, an experienced Invisalign provider can correct severe crowding, spacing, or rotation issues – as well as class 2 and 3 malocclusions, open bites, cases requiring extraction, and even use it in conjunction with jaw surgery.
“Not every provider understands all the possible treatment options with the Invisalign system," says Dr. Kanani, a Vancouver invisible braces provider. "Invisalign specialists can employ attachments, buttons, elastics, and other devices – even areas of partial braces."

"Invisalign also requires a compliant and diligent patient," notes Dr. Kanani, a Suurey orthodontist. "Patients must wear the aligners according to their doctor’s instructions, and practice proper oral hygiene." One advantage of Invisalign aligners is that they are removable so patients can take them out to eat or brush. Traditional braces can make it hard to keep teeth clean. However, the system is only effective with patients who will remember to replace the device after eating or brushing.
