Upon experiencing a home massage from a professional therapist, you may be tempted to never return to having a massage in a clinic. It is counter-intuitive to get into your car straight after the massage is done to go driving home and undo the muscle and mental relaxation the massage has achieved. Squeezing the steering wheel and sitting in the upright driving position can cause the muscles to tightening up all over again after you have paid to have your therapist release them.

By taking a few minutes of your time to prepare a space for the massage to take place, you can make a home massage a fantastic experience! Your particular living situation and your expectations of the massage will impact on how the following suggestions apply to you.

You may just want a massage to have the remedial relief that it can bring, though the best results tend to arise with a combination of relaxation and remedial work. Relaxation during the massage will likely enhance the physiological benefits that massage provides.

Some Tips in Getting a Great Massage

1. Try relaxing as much as possible before your massage therapists arrives. If you happen to be doing stressful activities before the therapist shows up it will take a lot more time to relax on the table. To begin the relaxation process then you might want to have a bath or take a shower.

2. You should make a suitable space for the therapist's table and deal with any space restraints. This will make sure your therapist can access the parts of the body that they need without bumping into furniture (or you).

3. You should also turn of any phones such as your home phone or cell phone. A phone ringing during a massage can be very distracting. Even if you decide to not answer it, you will be wondering about who is calling and this can affect the relaxation process.

4. Turning the TV off is a great idea. We have done massages on client who chose to watch TV during a session; even though it is their choice then it is not that optimal for "me-time".

5. Keep any pets or children away from the area of the massage session. We understand that this cannot always be done. Many clients that we work with are very busy parents and the only option to get a massage is with their children around. (Bribing the kids with treats generally works miracles). However, there are even some parents the find listening to their children playing and having a massage at the same time can be very therapeutic. Again it is your choice.

6. You might want to consider playing music during your massage. Whilst some mobile massage therapists may provide music, therapists generally have to carry a lot of equipment so not all therapists are able to do this.

7. You will want to make sure you have the temperature at the right level. During the cooler months when receiving a massage your body will cool down rather quickly, so having the room nice and warm is advisable.

8. Dim the lights or even turn them off and light a few candles. Being turned over in a room with bright lights can cause you to crash back into reality.

9. If you wish to chat a bit during the massage then feel free. If your preference is for quiet during the massage, then your therapist should understand this and keep conversation to a minimum.

10. After the massage is over, it is important to take time in getting off the table. Should you wish to lie on the table for a few moments after the massage has finished should not be an issue for your therapist. Remaining in "your space" and coming back to reality slowly is another great way to enhance the relaxation benefits your body can receive. Paying before the session begins is another way to remain stress free throughout and after the session.

11. If you have a large enough room then having a massage with your partner (or a friend) can be a great experience. It is suggested that there should be minimal conversation so that both massage recipients can relax.

Keep in mind that these are only mere suggestions that may or may not apply to your situation. Your mobile massage therapist may have their own suggestions and tailor the massage to your specific needs.
