Honda, Honda Technology Research Institute Company Limited, is an example of the largest Japanese car, motorcycle and truck makers. After recent statistics, Honda is currently the 5th biggest auto manufacturer on the world.

At the same time, Honda is the biggest, most vital engine manufacturer across the planet. Honda today is among the most bought brands in the US and they have come a long way to become the most trustworthy carmaker in the world.

Soichiro Honda set up Honda back in 1948 in Japan and it started with motorbike production. Since, after World War II Japan was demanding tiny, inexpensive cars for its growing population, Honda's bikes were a massive success.

The company began to expand its motorbike range and it shortly became one of most critical bike makers in Asia. While Honda's first auto appeared in 1960, it wasn't till 1970 that Honda imported its first automobile model, the tiny N600, in the United States. Because post WWII America was disinclined to Japanese products, Honda found it a hard time capturing the Americans' trust with its cars.

In 1973 Honda has launched Civic in the US, maybe its most single top selling auto across the planet. Civic offered enough interior space and it offered a serious fuel efficiency that it shortly became an Yankee success. The world was facing a fuel crisis in the early 1980's and Civic was the vehicle USA citizens required, as it was cheap, reliable and it offered good fuel consumption.

The 1973 Honda Civic be a surgeon. the 1st Honda car to catch to the Yankee public and it was then that the company started to witness bigger and bigger sales in the US.

In 1976 Honda launched its medium sized vehicle, the bargain in the States and as the economic situation worldwide was starting to improve, it shortly became a success. In the mid 1980s Honda was seen across the US as a car maker that was making terribly trustworthy and technologically advanced vehicles.

In fact, Honda's cars were such a big success in US that in 1989 Honda won with its Accord model the excellence as America's most well-liked automobile. Just like other Eastern automobile makers, Honda has two car divisions: Honda that is making preferred cars and Acura, its plush brand and Honda Dealers began selling its Acura models in the US in the beginning of the 1990. Folk trying to find sportier and more magnificent automobile had another brand to pick. Technologies like Honda's VTEC (that stands for variable valve timing ), aluminum engines and hybrid engines made the company one of the finest selling Japanese brands in US.

Today Honda's offerings to the US is massive, including sports models, family sedans, SUVs, minivans, pick-ups and hybrid cars and due to their inventions and technologies used, Hondas have a world wide reputation of trustworthy and safe automobiles.

Honda also has many facilities and building plants in the States, both for technologies development (such the Honda facility in Raymond, Ohio) and for car producing like the Honda plant in East Liberty, Alabama where the companies is building the Civic sedan, its Civic coupe model and the Honda CR-V SUV.
