The Different Types of High Chairs - By: Dan Brathers

One of the most important accessories you will have to buy for your child is a high chair. It?s simply a must! Whenever you eat at the table, it?s always important to have your child there. This is to not only to keep a watchful eye on your child, but to also have the child feel closer to its parents. One would think that there is just one common type of high chair that everybody uses but truthfully, there are many different types of high chairs to choose from.

There are five usual types of high chairs: standard, wooden, restaurant, booster, and travel-friendly. Standard high chairs are the most typical chairs that you will find. These chairs usually have a plastic frame and have removable trays. Although these tend to be the bulkier types, they are very easy to clean. Because they are plastic, they also are more likely to collapse and fold up which makes them easy for storing these up without a hassle. They usually have a padded seat as well.

Wooden high chairs tend to be more solid and don?t collapse like the plastic ones. However, these are very east to convert to normal chairs after the little one has grown up. Restaurant high chairs are usually divided into two separate categories: commercial and portable. Commercial restaurant chairs are the more durable of the two and are the most widely used out of these two. Because these chairs are used for different people and are constantly used, these chairs handle abuse a bit better. The portable chairs usually are attached to a table or a chair and tend to be easy for transportation. The portable chairs also fit into the Travel Friendly category.

Travel Friendly high chairs are great for families who spend plenty of time traveling. These chairs hook to other chairs or to tables. They usually have vinyl or cloth seats which are comfortable for your child.

Booster seats are made for older children who are usually 3 years old and over. These chairs are usually built out of plastic or other solid materials and because the children are old enough, they don?t require the child to be strapped in as with other usual high chairs.

These are the five main high chairs that you will find when searching for one. Out of these categories, there are many other variations available. When searching for a high chair, always remember to find the right chair that fits best for your child.
