The Canon Print Cartridge– The Pros and Cons of Not Using One - By: Jessica Thomson

There can be no second thoughts about it. The printer ink cartridges are often the most expensive items related to printer usage.

It happens very often that the consumers are given model printers by manufacturers. These are given to them at a cut rate price hoping to make up for it at the back end when these cartridges run out of ink. Thus, for most buyers, the alternative to buying the expensive inkjet ink is to use refilled cartridges which are cheap and sold by the third party.

The concern here is that if you are not using some good products like a href="http://www.wholesaletoner.com.au/canon-c-17.html" canon cartridges /a you may end up using something that is not only cheap in terms of price but also quality.

Today, there are two ways in which you can get cheap ink cartridges. The first way is to buy refilled ink cartridges from any online vendor. These third party vendors accept used cartridges in donation. They refill and repackage them, and finally sell at a highly discounted rate to the consumers.

One benefit of this method is that you can easily check the reputation and background of the refill company by doing some research on the internet. Another important benefit apart from the cost is that it is one of the easiest ways to buy cheap cartridges, both for use at work and home.

The only probable downside to this option is that it will anyway always be more expensive than the other option which is the user refilling the cartridge himself. There are, in fact, refill kits available. Thus, refilling it oneself becomes the easiest and cheapest option.

There are, however, a few things that you need to take care of when dealing with either the home-refilled cartridges or commercially refilled ink cartridges. Using these cheap options can many times spells disaster for the user.

Most printer inkjet cartridges come embedded with electronic chips inside them. These chips, when installed communicate with the printer. Thus, it lets the printer know how much ink is left in the tank and when you need to replace the cartridge. This embedded chip needs to be installed back at the same time the refilling of the cartridge is done. If not, the printer will read that the cartridge is still empty.

Thus, the concern here is that the tool must be exactly the same that is meant for branded cartridges and all these tools are highly expensive.

Some common problems faced when using refilled or reused cartridges are that it often results in leakage inside the printer if the cartridge is not refilled properly. And it is common that many times the printer fails to operate permanently due to leakage of inks. Thus, the user incurs the cost of buying a new printer altogether.
