Tattoos of Different Kinds, Their Significance, Meaning and Style - By: Stuart Owens

Tattoos have become a style for young people today in the modern world. Today we see a lot of celebrities wearing tattoos on some part of their body. However, if we look into the history of tattoos, they were very traditional. If we move into the country side where people are not that developed, you will find old people in these regions with tattoos on their hand or neck region. When enquired about why they wore these, they had a very symbolic meaning towards them, most of the time these were permanent tattoos which they wore at a very young age. Also, the people in their villages had these and most of them did not know the exact meaning, even though as mentioned earlier symbolized a great meaning from their tradition. This is practiced even today in some parts of the Africa, where the tribal people live. I have watched a lot of these on my television which I bought through my Dish TV Packages. For the fact lot of these features on channels like the National Geographic Channels, where you can see different kinds of people from different corners round the world.

One of the programs documented people a village, where they wore tattoos on their whole body. At this point of time I am not sure whether to take this as an interesting factor. This is because using this word 'interesting' sometimes sounds really weird in this context. The fact is that all the people born in the clan are made to wear these on their body without even being asked about it. This process undergoes a lot of suffering in the people. At times the method of wearing these tattoo become so incorrect that it becomes infectious at a later point of time. Hence leads to all kinds of skin infections and causes other diseases like the cancer and so on.

The modern day tattoos do not really convey a meaning in them. However, people who lay their tattoos on their body have their own meaning and significance towards it. Many people want to wear these just for a fashion and style. They select different designs or they select a phrase or a name that can be made as a tattoo on which ever part of the body they like. There are many people who carry these tattoos as a sentimental value. These people usually like to put the names or portray the pictures of their dear ones one their body. The meaning is they want to carry them where ever they go. If the people whom they want to be tattooed on their body are still alive, then it meant to say that they are very precious in their life. Today, I find a lot of my friends wearing a tattoo on their body. Also, another important factor is that the location where the tattoo is being worn also carries different meaning in it.

Many People like to keep their tattoos open. What I mean by open here is, for example, the tattoo placed on their arm in most cases, is to show off their biceps. Some might place it on their neck, just above their shoulders. This is a common place which can be seen easily. So these people really want to show everyone the kind of tattoo that they wear. Apart from these, are people who love to have different kinds of tattoos all over the body? For them it is a kind of hobby. Not sure if they like to bear the pain while wearing these, but somehow they forget the pain in wearing them. When you look at their body, it is filled with different designs and hence you will hardly find a place empty to place another. To end, few people have an invitation in their hand 'Welcome to the World of Tattoos'.
