Swapping Pants And Socks For Sky Diving And Rally Car Driving - By: Anna Stenning

Do you like me always end up traipsing round the shops for some inspiration of what to buy people for birthdays, Christmas and anniversaries, unless you have anything specific in mind the whole experience becomes a living nightmare and generally ending up returning home empty handed.

Trying to come up with gift ideas for some individuals can be extremely taxing, especially if they are the kind of person who doesn't drop hints or seemingly from the outside has everything anyway. What do you do in these circumstances, you don't want to buy a token gift which is opened and set to one side, so how do you get round this problem?

Perhaps if we looked a bit further out of the box of traditional presents and gift ideas, steering clear of hankies, underpants and socks we might just stumble across more exciting ideas which will be appreciated by all.

Having encountered this problem so many times, wearing out the soles of my shoes in failed attempts to buy the prefect present I decided to stay at home and search online, as so many others are already doing, mostly I searched online shops similar to what I would do if I were out shopping, still no inspiration, but then I searched for gift ideas and BINGO I found several sites which were promoting experience days.

I'd never thought about buying someone a day out before, or a trip to the spa or sauna but it became apparent that I am one of the only few people left who haven't! I was surprised to see just how many different types of experience were on offer providing me with a multitude of gift ideas for future use.

When you think about it, it is such a simple idea, I mean we buy gift vouchers for clothes shops, cinema or bowling for example so why not take it to the next level. I was at the time searching for a gift for my mum, it was quite a special birthday so I wanted something that she would use, enjoy and remember all at the same time.

I know my mum has been into reflexology and other types of massage and relaxation for many years, so booking something along these lines was perfect, I did search many sites in order to find the best day out possible, but to be honest this made me more confused as there were so many pamper days available, I opted for a day spa and beauty therapy day which allowed my mum to choose the treatments she wanted, included use of swimming facilities and lunch too. I knew she was going to be over the moon with it, and she was.

I haven't been too stuck for gift ideas recently, I do still go shopping for presents as buying experience gifts would be too expensive all the time however, when I have a special occasion to buy for I come back to these experience days, still amazed at the diverse range of activities which are offered. I do believe that shopping around has its benefits, to get the most for your money.

However if you know someone who likes skydiving, hot air ballooning, paintballing, horse riding, race car driving or something a little more sedate such as pamper days, cooking courses, wine tasting or indulgence treats you can't go far wrong. These sites provide gift ideas for all people no matter how young or old and regardless of gender. Usually the only things required are a sense of humour and a lust for life!
