Solar Power And Its Future - By: Calvin Joness

Thanks to the Bush Administrations Alternative Power Initiatives we are seeing money flowing to alternative energy research and great strides being made in the private sector. School buses run lots of lights that warn motorists that kids will be crossing and all these lights could be run from solar power or from solar power assisted batteries. If in an especially sunny climate one can produce enough power from the sunlight to run a 100w light bulb from merely one single square meter of solar panel. As an active technology, one of the first uses for solar power was on NASA spacecraft. Energy efficient mortgages came to be because of a nudge from the government to lenders in an effort to promote the use of solar energy as a power source.
Also there exists another trend of using solar energy for electricity production, which is similar to the heat power plant.
Solar power is probably the cleanest, most viable form of renewable energy available and it can be used in several forms to help power your house.
Thanks to modern technology, nuclear, solar and wind energy costs are coming down speedily while the cost of petroleum escalates rapidly.
So what we have here is solar panels that are twice as efficient, batteries which last twice as long and the solar systems only cost half of what they did a decade ago. Ten years ago it cost up to $80,000 to install solar panels, but with new materials now the prices have come way down and now the average home can put in solar panels for about $40,000. While it is easy to read the solar power school initiative in Australia as a pure political ploy, it should still be celebrated. There are so many advantages of solar power that it is amazing that it is not yet more common. Other advantages to solar lights are that there are no wires needed, so installation is very easy. Without solar power, there would be no photosynthesis, no rain, no wind, no current, etc. On top of panel systems, Hawaii has moved to promote thermal and water heating through solar.
There is a large selection of solar water heating products available to the consumer. Even despite all the disadvantages of solar systems, this kind of alternative source of electric energy is spreading all over the world.
