There are principles in life that we should master to be able to win friends and appropriately handle people. It is ability, a skill and a privilege rolled into one. It is never easy to win people over. It is a daunting task which places us in huge risks. Risks like rejection will always come into play but this should not put you down, instead this should challenge your being able to win people's hearts.

Winning Drill #1: Show them your interest. You need to make them feel that you are genuinely interested in the person's life, background and everything that constitutes his being. By doing this you are also allowing the person interested in you. This should start off a good relationship by being honest right from the very beginning.

Winning Drill #2: Wear a smile. 'Smile and the whole world smiles back at you,' so the saying goes. It would really be nice to look at if you smile genuinely. The sweetest smile can melt even the hardened heart, maybe not as fast as you want but it will in time. You just need to wait.

Winning Drill #3: Learn the importance of their names. You have to bear in mind always that remembering a person's name is the most precious sound they can hear and a wonderful gift as well. To be able to win a person over would mean remembering their names first.

Winning Drill #4: Listen. When you communicate, you have to show your interest and I mean genuine interest to whatever the person is telling you. If you listen, you are giving encouragement to the other person to talk about anything about his life. In return, he should be able to do this to you too. It is not something we expect from each other. Instead, it is something that we owe each other. Once we define who we are in each other's lives, handling the person would be way too easier.

Winning Drill #5: You need converse according to the other person's interests. It is said that 'The royal road to a man's heart is to talk about him; about the things he treasures the most.' To be able to do this, you need to find out what interests him and stick to that topic.

Winning Drill #6: Make the other person feel important. You have to show you care. You can even praise him. Your concern will surely slowly seep through his heart. You need to be able to point what you admire most about him and let him know about it. Letting him know is a great way towards winning his affection. If you make the other person important and let him feel that you care most about him, this should lead you to a good relationship with him.

Of course it is admitted that those are easier said than done. Those may be some of life's principles we have not yet mastered but as long as you are confident about these things then it will not be long until you master them.
