Wouldnt it be great if you could watch any movie you want at a time you want without getting up or driving to pick up a dvd. Well you can and several companies including Amazon, TiVo, Movielink, Apple, Vudu, Netflix, CinemaNow, Vongo and MovieFlix are offering a service of sorts but you have to watch your download on a pc screen. 14 inches of Indiana Jones isnt so impressive though.

You can of course get a Settop box of sorts like TiVo, Apple TV etc will allow you to download movies to your TV, but they then erase it 24 hours later. A DVD sent in the mail is good, but you have to wait for it to arrive.
However Netflix have announced a $100 box that will solve all these problems and offer content for free, whoopee.
The Netflix Roku Player is very easy to use so long as you have high speed broadband of course. It connects to your home wireless network or you can use cable if your still living in the dark ages.
connect it up to your TV using a HDMI cable, component cables, S-Video or RCA cables. The supplied remote lets you play movies or jump to certain points using a thumbnail image system showing the various movie scenes so you can jump to exactly the point in the movie you want.
So where do the movies come from? Well you guessed Netflix.com, where you can select movies from a parade of colorful DVD cases on a scrolling virtual shelf which offers 10,000 movies plus TV shows. Because its a free service the movies aint the latest releases by a long shot however.

Whilst Internet TV, movies and TV show downloads are great to have and very convenient there is the ongoing problem of watching on your laptop or small PC screen whilst your 42 inch HD TV sits in the corner.
The solutions so far are too much hassle including limited content, subscription fees, needing a set top box on every TV etc. A company called ZeeVee has solved the problem though being the first device that will allow you to watch on your TV set anything you can view online or on your PC. This amazing feat is achieved by sending from your PC output a new high-definition (HD) TV channel called Zv, which is then broadcast across the existing cable wiring to all HDTVs in the home. As a result, ZvBox frees TV watchers from restrictive set-top boxes, rigid network schedules, and the strain of hunching over laptops to view online video. This breakthrough broadcasting method is called ‘localcasting’ and it uses existing tunersfound within HDTV sets and your existing cable wiring setup.
So you can now watch free movies and TV shows even HD ones straight from your catch up TV websites such as abc.go.com & cbs.com to your big screen tv or watch content downloaded from iTunes or Netflix on your TV, basically anything on your PC screen can be broadcast so you can forget about the Apple TV box and Netflix Player as this will do the same and more.
Using this system will save subscription costs and you get the all important hires HD signal from your PC screen. The content can be viewed on any TV in the house. ZvBox comes supplied with a touchpad ZvRemote allowing you to control your PC mouse from up to 150 distance.
All silver linings have a cloud though and the ZvBox’s is a mammoth $500 price tag. Considering you can connect a PC to your TV using a HDMI cable, however if you have multi tv’s in your house or your tv is a long way from your pc then the ZvBox is a good option and of course as its a new out gadget its cool man.
