Has your business hit a plateau? No new distributors coming into your business? Are you making less than minimum wage because you aren't making any sales?

There's no need to panic, not just yet anyway. Sometimes we just need to get back to basics and often we need to revitalise our enthusiasm. So here are a few things to consider in order to get back on teh road to success.

1. Prospects/Inviting

Always remember that prospects are the lifeblood of any network marketing business. There are six main skills that you need to be aware of and as proficient as you can be. They are inviting, presenting, following up/moving to action, on job training, promoting (events/competitions etc) and leadership devlopment. The beauty of most network marketing companies is that they have tools, systems and support in place to take care of the last five skills, so you only have to become great at the first one, inviting.
If you can't invite, the best presentation in the world isn't going to build your business, so you need to become a professional inviter.

When considering who to invite, most recommend that you make a list of all the people you know and start with them. This is because they know you, like you and trust you are most likely to be more open to your invitation whether that is to view an online presentation, attend an opportunity meeting or simply purchase a product.

Always ask for referrals from your prospects, because it is unlikely that you will find the next superstar from within your warm market. It is who they know and who these people know etc that will cause the really big growth to occur. There are many stories of someone in your warm market joining a business and bringing in someone else who's wife tells her girlfriend about the opportunity, but she isn't interested however, her partners golf buddy is friends with a guy who has been looking for just such an opportunity for ages and he comes in and blows the thing out of the ballpark. In the meantime, your original warm lead has left the business and misses out on a huge team being developed beneath them.

You never know how or where the superstars are going to surface, so tell everyone and always ask for referrals.

2. Belief

If you are not excited about the company or product, you will never convey anything else to your prospects. The truth is, if you aren't 100% behind the product, if you aren't 'in', you may as well leave and find a company that you can be totally excited about. You have to be congruent and if you're not, you will never succeed.

Remember too, that nothing promotes a company or product better that a satisfied customer. So believe totally in the company and the product you are promoting and do what you say you are going to do. If you tell a customer you will be back for the catalogue on Tuesday afternoon, make sure you go back for it on Tuesday afternoon.

Constantly remind yourself what sold you on the company in the first place. That way you can maintain the belief and excitement which will be conveyed to your customers and prospects whenever you present.

3. Be Prepared to Withdraw the Opportunity

Don't just recruit anybody. When presenting to a new prospect, try to identify their goals and dreams. Try to extract their reasons for wanting to achieve success. If they don't show any signs of wanting to succeed, or there is no energy forthcoming, you can always choose not to work with them. Truth is, they will probably quit the business anyway.

4. Sorting Not Selling.

When trying to recruit a new distributor, don't force the issue. If you have to be a top salesperson in order to get them in, and employ heavy closing techniques, they aren't going to do anything once they are in anyway. We are in the business of sorting, not selling. Our job is to get everyone we know in front of a company presentation, whether that is a meeting, a two on one, a teleseminar, webinar or online presentation. Some will and some won't and all we are doing is sorting the population into these two categories and working with those who will.

5. Dress for Success

As in any business, you need to be professional. A network marketing business is just that, a business. Just because the investment wasn't that of a franchise or a bricks and mortar business, doesn't mean you should be any less professional. You should model yourself on the top producers in your company noting how they dress, how they conduct themselves, how they respond to people saying yes to them, how they respond when people say no to them. The bottom line is that if you treat this business like a business it will pay you like a business. The trouble is, a lot of people treat it like a hobby and wonder why they get the results they get.

6. Never Quit

The main reason that people don't succeed in network marketing is because they are afraid of what other people think and as a result, they don't take the action of exposing the opportunity to everyone they know. Perseverance is key, you have to keep going in order to reach the top. You are going to take some hits, you will get knocked down again and again, but the winners are the ones who can get hit and keep getting up.

7. Personal Development

Jim Rohn once said that success isn't something to go after. It is something that you attract by the person you become. Don't ever be satisfied or stagnant, but strive for personal growth especially in the areas that you have set goals for. This is one way of ensuring you attain those goals. Plug into company trainings to work on your skillset, and embrace personal development to work on your mindset.
