Uganda is an interesting destination. Africa is still relatively underdeveloped when compared to the west, though Uganda has taken huge leaps in progress over the last decade. Now many tourists choose to base themselves in Uganda's capital while exploring what this majestic land has to offer. Located in Southern Uganda, Kampala is famous for being one of the greenest cities on the African continent. It is blessed with a wonderful climate and is surrounded by seven lush hills. But it is important to note that you will not get the overwhelming bustle and chaos as is found on the streets of many African cities.

Now, a decade in to the twenty first century, tourism is a fundamental aspect of Uganda's economy. Without the half a billion dollars that holiday makers spend in the country every year a lot more people would be in hardship and penury. What has allowed the tourism sector to become so significant is the range of options when it comes to choosing accommodation. Even international chains have a presence in the capital; for example you could book a room in the Grand Imperial, Sheraton Kampala, or the Holiday Express.

There are lodges and camps available that offer five star treatment and service. The facilities available when travelling to Uganda is now as good as can be expected in longer established destinations. There is also the option of cheap guesthouses and budget rooms for those travelers with tight purse strings.

Apart from the interesting architecture, gardens, and parks within the city there are also a wealth of interesting attractions in the wider area. A must see is the Kasubi tombs. These are actually of royal standing and are the spiritual centre of the Baganda culture. It is easy to organize a trip as they are found barely ten minutes from the centre of Kampala.

It is also worthwhile fitting in a trip to the continents only Bahai temple. This is found close to one of the hills and can be reached with a gentle stroll in the early morning or late evening.

The people throughout Uganda are famous for their hospitality and friendliness. You will have no worries finding accommodation that is up to standard.
