Learn The Very Best Self Defense Moves For Beginners! - By: Steve Gibons

When you have different styles of martial arts under your belt you will understand why being ready in the physical and psychological levels for the different types of violence and assauts is imperative to become a better figher.

You can even add some excellent self defense techniques and drills to your repertoire, depending on the martial art styles you choose to learn.

A lot of people often wonder if today's black-belt, martial arts sensei is able to pass on self defense techniques to his students that they can use to ward off a real-life attack or assault. You are not going to be able to defend yourself in an actual attack if all you have been learning are rehearsed drills and theory. After all, if you are learning self defense, it's not an unrealistic expectation to be able to use what you learn to defend yourself.

A lot is required to defend yourself during a street attack, including the ability to 1) use the fight-stress element to your advantage, 2) endure the pain you will no doubt experience and adapt to the resulting stress, and 3) use the set drills and tools you have learned to inflict damage by means of numerous strikes, street-fighting punches and kicks, and pressure points. And you have to do it all of this while breathing deeply to remain cool and calm.

The best combat system that you should use, based on my personal experience, is one that combines a number of different martial arts styles with effective self defense techniques, all of which are geared to the skill set you have gained through training, as well as your size, body type, timing, range of speed, and instincts.

You want to learn the techniques that teach the most violent and ruthless attacks. Being able to visualize yourself as a nasty street fighter and being prepared is essential. A relaxed and calm mind will enable you to attack your opponent with intelligence and intensity, while at the same time, effectively blocking and defending your position. There are a host of techniques that you have learned from the many styles you practice. Use the ones that have been the easiest to learn and implement so that your attack is executed smoothly and effectively.

The easiest way to learn the most effective self defense techniques from a variety of martial arts styles is by participating in classes, reading books, watching videos online, and diligently practicing what you have learned. The moves you see actors and stunt people perform in movies simply won't work when you are confronted with a real-life street assault.

Regardless of how bad the situation looks, do your best to be the first to attack, and by all means, stay on your feet. Common sense and judgment will also help you come out on top. I accidentally bumped into a thug while riding the subway a few days ago. Instead of fighting him like he wanted me to, I told him I was sorry and walked away from what could have been a serious fight.
