Developing right from the start of the 20th Century, styles blossomed out from the Vienniese Waltz and the Polka – one elegant, one tending on the boisterous side - in the beginnings of today's Waltz together with today's Quickstep. And then somewhere in there the Foxtrot arrived, eventually increasing into elegance on four feet! And a little later on, Latin made its lovely, dynamic entrance.

The U. S. predominated musically – all things considered, what is dance without New music, and both they and this U. K. are proud of the superb association with modern Ballroom Usual and Ballroom Latin Dance. 'South of the Border' can fairly lay claim to the pure 'Latin' style – your Professional approach - and we thank them for it! But today Ballroom Latin is usually immensely popular, it is a style which is actually 'do-able' – the Specialized Style often being rather beyond the aspirations of all social dancers - although ballroom Latin also remains the initial 'step' to be taken to get that more sophisticated level. Many people are entranced, and proceed on the higher levels..... if only because of their own enjoyment!

In the 21st Century however we can truthfully point out that Ballroom dancing is everywhere! The five Continents but not just take an interest, but take part! International Competitions are held on a regular basis, a country will have a unique Champions, and they are only too very happy compete – on their home ground and abroad, in their turn holding International Competitions - and a lot of countries furnish many 'Winners'!

A look into DANCE NEWS, the internationally well-known weekly Dance Newspaper, constantly realises this; competitors from across the world are welcomed in the U. S. and the U. K., and both encourage their own personal dancers to 'travel'. All people other countries, too, are wanting to participate.

At the World Show up Council European Prof. Ballroom Titles held in Stockholm, Sweden, 19 Nations took part, 32 adults competed and Adjudicators attended with Austria, Denmark, and Sweden, as well as Belgium, France, Germany, England and Russia.

Dancing in a competition is completely different from dancing for societal occasions. When you learn to help ballroom dance for social instances, you and your partner are quite relaxed you know your audience.

In contrast, dancing in a competition puts you in a 'spotlight', which follows you everywhere and able to capture each detail of your dance. Hundreds or even thousands involving eyes are watching you strongly to detect any mistake that you might make. There is indeed a big number of ballroom dance that one can are going to participate. Some examples include Tango, Waltz, Tango, Fast Step, Jive, Samba, Salsa, and Foxtrot. Nowadays, we can see that there are many competitions being organized inside international level to showcase this variety of dances.

In a dancing competition, participants are judged mainly as a result of 4 main criteria; teamwork (chemistry), technique, showmanship and timing.
