A common misconception about the law of success is the belief that all it takes to be successful is to daydream about success. Although the power of belief, when properly applied, can yield positive effects, it takes more than belief to achieve great things.

A better understanding of the law would reveal that positive thinking is only a piece of a bigger puzzle. True success comes to those who not only assume the positive attitude that successful people have, but also develop the habits that made these people successful.

You can’t just dream of success. You have to live your life as if you were already successful. Here are some things that you should start doing if you’re not doing them already:

1. Develop a Habit of Punctuality.
If you are a practitioner of the law of success, you should be overflowing with enthusiasm. People who have such enthusiasm are never late! They are always looking for the next opportunity and they have a great respect for their own and other people’s time. Apply the power of belief and adjust your attitude towards time. Treat time with the same respect and importance as a successful man would. Success comes to those who are there. You can’t take advantage of an opportunity if someone gets there ahead of you.

2. Develop a Strong Initiative
Successful people speak their minds often and volunteer their skills to endeavors they encounter. These people make decisions based on the belief that their opinions and skills matter. Practice the law of success by having the confidence and drive to contribute to, and even lead, business projects. A person who applies the power of belief moves through life as if his decision can impact the world around him in a positive way.

3. Build a Strong Circle of Friends and Colleagues
Practitioners of the law of success operate with success in mind. They trust the people they work with to be able to manage and excel at their own individual tasks. They don’t try to do everything on their own, because they are confident in their own ability to evaluate talent and develop partnerships. Use the power of belief to develop the same attitude towards the people you work with. Instead of hovering over their backs or trying to micromanage everything, trust them to get things done. Your belief in them will develop their belief in themselves.

4. Believe that You Can
The most common advice you’ll hear on how to achieve success is to study successful people and try to do the things that they do. However, failures always assume that successful people have superhuman abilities that they themselves can never develop. Practitioners of the law of success use the power of belief to convince themselves that if someone has successfully done it before, they can do it too.

5. Be Willing to Learn
“You can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” is a common adage among failures. It is the excuse they use when they fail to adapt to changes. Practitioners of the law of success don’t believe in the term “obsolete.” They believe that regardless of their age, they can still find ways to evolve and re-invent themselves. Apply the power of belief in your own life and approach new information, new technologies and new methodologies with an open and eager mind.

The law of success is not a whimsical delusion. It is a practical and realistic process towards a goal. Practitioners of this law don’t wish or wait – they act. They make decisive actions with the confidence of someone to whom success is inevitable. This confidence gained from the power of belief is what allows them to move through the world without hesitation or fear.
