Laptops are great replacements for desktop PCs when you need to be flexible about where and when you are working. You can use a laptop at home or on a journey so that you can use time efficiently when it suits you. However, there are some things that you may need to consider when using your laptop. It is obvious that laptops must be smaller than desktop computers because of their portability, but this also means that the keyboard is smaller and the integral mouse is less manoeuvrable than a separate mouse. This means that some care needs to be taken in how you position your hands and wrists to make sure that you do not cause aches and pains from holding your arms and hands in an awkward position.

Similarly, because the screen is attached to the keyboard part, you cannot move it further away to suit your eyesight, so you may develop a habit of holding your head further back, or sitting forward to get the focus on the screen comfortable for your eyes. Again, this may cause a stiff neck or shoulders because of the unnatural position you are holding.

You need to take care as if you do cause damage to yourself it may take some time to recover and in the meantime you will probably find using your laptop difficult and uncomfortable.
