Article writing to make money will require the proper use of keywords, keyword density, and proper placement of keywords in your article. Search engines will scan your articles to see if your keywords have any relevance to your title.

Keywords help your readers seek out the information they are searching for. Keyword density and keyword placement has been a controversial subject for some time now. In this article I will discuss how important it is to know your keywords, and how often you should be mentioning them.

What Is a Keyword?

A keyword is a word or a several words known as a keyword phrase that are placed in your article, and is the main focus of your article. You will always try to get your keyword or keyword phrase in your title.

The title of this article is "the importance of keywords to make money article writing". The keyword phrase that I'm targeting in this article is "make money article writing". And “knowing your keywords”. I did not choose to use the keywords make money, or article writing, because I try to avoid such common and popular keywords. If you did a search on Google for "make money" you would find there are millions and millions of competing websites for that phrase. The same situation with occur with the term article writing. By linking them together in a long tail keyword phrase it becomes more targeted has less competing websites.

Keyword stuffing

It is important to note that there is also such a thing as over optimizing your articles for particular words, this is known as “keyword stuffing”. When you stuff keywords in an article a search engine spider will detect that you are trying to trick it into placing your article high in the search engine results for that word, and will instead penalize your site and your page for doing such.

Keyword Density

Keyword density is how many times you use your keyword or a keyword phrase in your article. The truth is there is no exact keyword density formula to follow when writing your article. There are many varying opinions on keyword density; at one-time 5% was the magic percentage. All you had to do was figure out how many words were in your article, calculated what 5% of it would be. Then somehow you managed to work in that number of keywords in your article. Those days are over.

If your article is properly written, 2% is certainly sufficient to keep the search engines happy. I suggest you always get your keyword in your title. Use your keyword once or twice in the article body, and definitely use it in the last paragraph of your article.

Each webmaster has their own density percentage that they like to achieve based on past results. As long as you don’t over optimize and you are making sufficient profit from your rankings, then you can choose whatever keyword density you like.

The Right Density

No matter what exact density you choose, it is important to place keywords so that there are used more at the beginning and end of your article this will produce an hour glass effect.
