Kerala, a tiny little state in India, is listed as one of the top ten paradises of the world. The tourism tagline of the state is ‘God’s own country.’ As it proclaims, this is a land which you will feel and enjoy all the beauty of nature.
There are a lot of places of tourist interest in Kerala. Now, let me give you a brief idea about the major tourist attractions in Kerala.
Bekal Fort, Kasargod: For internationally acclaimed filmmakers like Mani Ratnam and Santosh Sivan, Bekal fort is the ultimate place of beauty, as visible through their various films. The mighty Bekal Fort stands surrounded three sides by the Arabian Sea welcoming tourists who wish to revisit the glories of the past.
Wayanad: The Ghat roads, tea and coffee plantations, mountains, rich flora and fauna are the things that make the district of Wayanad a hub of tourists. There are many historically important places like Edackkal caves and Pazhassi Memorial too in Wayanad.
Beypore and Kappad beaches, Kozhikode: Kappad is the place where the famous Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama first landed in India, which further led to the invasion of Europeans in India. Beypore beach has a history of being in trade relation with several Arab countries from as early as 12th century AD.
Kerala Kalamandalam, Thrissur: Kalamandalam is an institute where many traditional art forms of Kerala are taught by expert artists. People from many countries come and study many art forms like Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Chenda etc here.
Kochi: Kochi is perhaps the most important tourist hub in Kerala. The major places of interest in Kochi are Marine Drive, Bolgatty palace, Jewish Synagogue and street in Mattancherry, Cherai and Fort Kochi beaches, Tripunithura hill palace museum etc.
Alappuzha and Kottayam: Alappuzha and Kottayam are famous for the backwaters and luxurious houseboats (Kettuvallams). A must visit for anyone who comes to Kerala
Kovalam Beach: It is the most famous beach in Kerala. Thousands of tourists visit this place daily. Kovalam is situated in Trivandru district. Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of the Indian peninsula is just a little further away from Kovalam.
