Keeping Your Hair Healthy - By: Arthor Greenwald

Having healthy-looking hair is a boost to everything from our own self-confidence to people’s first impressions of us, as well as often being a reflection of how healthy we are inside. So what are the best ways to ensure your hair stays looking healthy and vital?

The obvious place to start is washing your hair regularly and using the right shampoos. As with your skin care, the hair care products you buy should be natural wherever possible as over time synthetic products and chemicals can cause lasting damage to the hair even if they leave it looking great in the short term.

When you use hair care products after washing, make sure you do so whilst the hair is still wet so you maximise the amount of goodness that your hair will absorb. As with skin care, you need plenty of moisture for your hair, but also to ensure that any traces of shampoo are washed out as thoroughly as possible.

It isn’t just the way you wash and condition your hair that will make a difference to how healthy it is though. Colouring, perming and straightening can all lead to it looking tired and haggard, whilst going to bed with wet hair will almost certainly lead to your hair being damaged or broken in the night.

Your diet can also have a massive effect on how healthy that ‘do’ looks too. Having a balanced diet will be a great place to start, and healthy eating will almost certainly lead to healthy hair. Try and have as much protein as you can and wherever possible, and up your intake of vitamin B with supplements if necessary. And of course, just like with everything, the best way to keep our hair healthy is with plenty of water. The more water you have the more beautiful and healthy you will be all round.
