“I don't eat junk foods and I don't think junk thoughts”. You are what you eat. Its important to eat healthy foods, inorder to stay healthy. If you eat nothing but corn chips, you won’t look like a corn cob and you certainly won’t be fit and healthy. This is all that your body needs- A good mix of foods. Researchers have found that Junk food which is advertised on television really does tempt children to eat unhealthy food and it has been found to be true.

Children who are between the ages of six to thirteen are mostly the victims of high fat because they eat food that not only increases the unhealthy fat in their body but also which is harmful for their stomach. Junk food is the meal which has little or no nutritional value, only contain calories. Junk foods are easily made, convenience foods containing high levels of saturated fats, salt, or sugar, and little or no fruit, vegetables, or dietary fiber; and have little or no health benefits. Common junk foods consist of salted snack foods like chips, candy, gum, most sweet desserts, fried fast food and carbonated beverages as well as alcoholic beverages.

Consuming an excess of junk food can change brain activity in a way which is similar to addictive drugs like cocaine or heroin. With the consumption of unlimited junk food, the pleasure centers of rat brains became desensitized. When the junk food is taken away and replaced with a healthy diet, the rats starved for two weeks instead of eating nutritious food. It was found by the British Journal of Nutritional study that mothers who eat junk food during pregnancy increased the likelihood of unhealthy eating habits in their children.

The study discovered that infants whose mothers ate excessive amounts of high-fat, high-sugar junk foods during pregnancy or breastfeeding preferred these foods early in their life. Studies proved that mothers who eat junk food when pregnant have children with the tendency of becoming obese. The children are also affected by diabetes, raised cholesterol, and high blood fat.
You must be thinking of what in that case could be termed as good for the children.

Almost anything which is fresh is healthy for children but it should contain vegetables particularly orange or dark green ones like carrots, pumpkins and broccoli. It should also include fruits, oats, fiber rich grains and pulses (beans, peas). It is important to be able to differentiate the bad food from the good. However bad food does not mean it will make you sick or anything of that sort but you should eat them in limit. The processed foods which generally contain sugar, salt and fat are not good for children. Fatty foods such as margarines, butter, cream, cheeses and fatty meat should be avoided. Sugar and sugary foods like cakes and candies are the unhealthy food for child. Food containing additives and colorings and diet soda drinks should likewise not be given to the children.
