When the date that you move house is fast approaching, one of the most important things to consider is not only which moving van company to use, or even what to do first when you arrive in your new home. One of the most important factors of moving, is in fact the packing of your belongings.

This of course can seem to be a bit of a chore and also may become stressful if not thought out properly. That’s why it’s important to make sure that you obtain all the supplies you need prior to beginning the process.

Packing correctly and safely will minimise the risk of any of your belongings becoming broken, getting lost or ending up in the wrong moving box and perhaps getting misplaced within other items. It’s therefore crucial to make sure that no item is rushed when placed into the boxes or any are forgotten to be wrapped up or labelled.

The home moving equipment you will need for your packing includes; moving boxes, packing labels, wrapping tape, bubble wrap, permanent markers for writing on the boxes and labels and for any type of clothing or items such as curtains etc perhaps some suitable garment bags.

These supplies can be easily purchased from supermarkets or various shops and can be obtained at reasonable costs too. However if you wish to keep them or pass them on to other home movers it perhaps is a good idea to pay a little more to ensure that your boxes etc are of good quality and will last a long time.

When beginning your packing it is first best to pack the things that you know will not be needed right away or until you have settled in at your new home. These can be items such as ornaments, books, various clothing, wall pictures etc which can then be packed carefully away into a box labelled “non-essentials” for example, so you will know immediately to unpack that box last.

On the other hand the most essential items such as cutlery, toiletries, underwear, and various clothes etc such be packed into a box labelled “essentials” and will therefore be opened first when you arrive. In addition, any items that are of value or fragile must wrapped with extra care and labelled accordingly including the box so the movers will know to be careful with these boxes.

With bubble wrap, clearly marked boxes and no confusion you can be sure that you’re moving day and both packing and unpacking will be a smooth procedure.
