Is This Really A Key Ingredient To Business Success? - By: Daniel Herzner

If you want to learn how to succeed in life, then there's a habit you need to adopt starting today. And note I said "habit" which means you'll need to use it every day. This crucial habit is something you'd also want to use if you wish to learn how to succeed in business too.

This habit can be easily understood through the following example...

Suppose for a moment you've decided to start a home based business. As any entrepreneur who has ever tried would atest to, starting a home business is never an easy thing to do. Getting a business up off the ground requires lots of time, energy, money and focus. There could be long periods of time when you'll be putting everything you've got into your business with very little, if anything, to show for it.

Eventually, however, the fruits of all your efforts will begin to show. Maybe a small sale is made or you receive a phone call from a good, potential client. Whatever the case, something happens which can be recognized as a positive step in the right direction.

Make sure you celebrate and really appreciate all of the results which materialize regardless of how small or insignificant they may seem.

To the person who is inexperienced in how to start and grow a business, it's easy to become disappointed over small, initial results. By nature, we are impatient. We want things to happen and we want them to happen right now.

But remember this; the big results you want can only be born of the small, initial results. To say it in a different way, you have to learn to walk before you can run.

For example, let's take a farmer. Farming is probably one of the most physically demanding businesses in existence. Farmers put in loads of effort gearing up to plant seeds at the begining of their growing season. And, after the seeds are planted, a bunch of effort which goes into careing for the seeds. Finally, after a great deal of effort, the seeds begin to grow.

Do you suppose a farmer is disappointed to see the seedlings – a small result – or is he happy to see them? You better believe the farmer is thrilled to see his crops begin to grow.

A farmer invests tons effort to see those seedlings sprout but he can literally do nothing with them. He's not going to yank them up and sell them at that point to make his effort worthwhile. He has no choice but to continue with his long days of arduous work in order to get the young plants to a point to where they will reward his hard work.

What is the point of this story? What does this example of the farmer tell us? It can be summed up in one word and it's also that magic habit you need to adopt: appreciation.

Yes, you have got to learn to appreciate every victory you experience in your business even if it is a small one. Every day get into the habit of recognizing at minimum one good thing to come about as a result of your hard work. Appreciation is crucial to the success of your business. Because if you don't learn to appreciate the small stuff then chances are good you'll never see the big stuff.
