Is The Sony KDL-40EX403 TV Worth Considering? - By: Andrew Emerson

The Sony KDL-40EX403 LCD TV is one of Sony's line of Bravia televisions. The EX403 is one of a series of improved-over-last-year liquid crystal display televisions, all of which have been upgraded from their 2009 predecessors.

Even though it's rated as a so-called entry-level LCD TV, Sony's made sure to pack it full of useful functions and features at a good price, by the way.

In actuality, Sony Bravia TVs have always been considered a step up above entry-level, though many online sellers are currently pricing this particular Sony KDL-40EX403 model at about 675 British pounds, with VAT.

It's also able to display in 720p and lower, all the way down to standard definition range.

As evidence of the upgraded nature of this particular Sony KDL-40EX403 TV, consider that Sony has also included its new Freeview HD satellite channel tuning filter. Previous models included Freeview, but not in high definition, it has to be said.

With Freeview HD, a viewer will be able to access a wide range of UK-specific satellite channels in high definition, which is an improvement over 2009 models, which either didn't feature the tuning filter at all or featured it in only non-HD configurations.

Sony usually also includes a certain motion control engine within just about all of its Bravia line of TVs and that's the case in the Sony KDL-40EX403 as well.

With it, the display on the screen will look extremely sharp, crisp and clear, with no evidence of blurriness or smearing.

Measuring in at 40 inches, this Sony KDL-40EX403 TV actually is a very versatile player. It's large enough to be the main television for almost any household while being small enough to serve duty in a single bedroom, den or study, including in those rooms acting as a home theater.

That it also looks extremely nice, wrapped in a glossy piano black casing, is a bonus.

The Sony KDL-40EX403 also features four separate HDMI input ports and several other ports and connections that allow for the hooking up of any number of different electronic components, such as a stereo, home theater or DVR/DVD player.

And with a thickness of only 33.3 mm, nobody would ever accuse the Sony of looking portly or in need of a quick weight loss diet, it must be said.

When it comes to picture and sound combined, Sony's included its well-known and well-regarded 24P True Cinema technology as well as a very nice 3D surround sound system that Sony calls S-Force.

In fact, it seems to do just about everything with ease, and the sound will be of high quality even if the TV's never going to be hooked to a home theater system, as a matter of fact.

In all, when considering the Sony KDL-40EX403 TV, one will have to concede that it's one of the nicer offerings in the Bravia line. It can work equally as well as a secondary TV for a bedroom or study or as the primary TV in a household, as a matter of fact .

Given that, it's sure to be an instant hit among consumers.
