The term stress management or stress reduction implies that you have to manage or reduce some thing. The way these terms are conveyed are that stress is an external thing which pounces on us when we least expect it and we could reduce it a small amount by using some form of management technique.

People use phrases which include "the stress is addressing me" which also imply it's something outside of us that's unwelcome and which we now have no control over.

Thinking of stress this way can be very harmful since it is made out to remain some big bad thing when really it belongs in the category of emotion.

Realizing this the question becomes can we control this emotion?

Since this is something that we learn it is definitely something we could control. There are many ways that they we can control some of our emotions. Learning to act rather then reacting is a basic principle although easier in theory. If you struggle with this and you are within a stressful situation try delaying for you to decide or action until you will have a chance to consider the specific situation from all angles. Effective evaluation will make certain you are acting through logic and not emotion.

Learning to produce an informed decision means that you are controlling your emotions instead of them controlling you.

The great thing about learning to control which emotions you would like and which you don't is if you ever decide not to let stress into your life, which emotion would you love instead?

Happiness is always a good one! There would be a case where people fell terminally ill and instead of going to the hospital he made a decision to buy up all the comedy videos he found and laughed himself back in health.

I've been a little wary of recommending people to smile when they feel they have nothing to smile about but it is physically proven to work and your body must act a certain way to feel stressed. When you picture a stressful person mentally you certainly don't picture someone who is smiling, who is taking deep slow breaths and standing tall and the right way up. This is because it is not possible to be stressed when doing these things.

So materials you begin to come to feel your blood boil through stress, examine your posture and breathing and instead of saying "we will laugh about this one day" do it!

Since this is something that individuals learn it is definitely something we could control. There are many ways in which we can control some of our emotions. Learning to act instead of reacting is a basic principle although easier said than done. If you struggle with this and you are within a stressful situation try delaying your decision or action until you have a chance to consider the situation from all angles. Effective evaluation will ensure you are acting through logic and not emotion.

It can be a far better outlook and if you possibly can see problems as challenges to become laughed at they are probably not so bad after just about all.
