However, like most other hard woods, their hardness rating can be much higher once protective coatings are applied to them.

When the flooring is chosen, it will be crafted with the most care in order to further strengthen the density of it. These additional coatings will often protect it from damages such as scratches, denting, and markings. This also helps to prolong its life by making it last longer and more beautifully. Bamboo flooring is a very unique type of flooring. What you would think that it would look like is not necessarily what it will.

There is little doubt that having the best quality is quite important. This type of flooring will be one that allows for a variety of different styles. For instance, it can be colored or stained in virtually any color necessary. This allows for it to fit well within many homes and environments well. Often the purchaser will have the ability to choose which color is right for their needs.

Although bamboo flooring is quite an expensive purchase, it is one that will likely last many years and will deliver beauty and design as well. If you are considering the purchase of this type of flooring, then insure that you get the highest level of quality so that it will last you a lifetime.

On the other hand, cork flooring offers several out standing benefits to home owner looking for some thing new and exciting in their home. The durability of cork flooring is appealing to most home owners, basically because high heels and furniture can do no damage. Cork flooring tiles are typically protected with a durable environmentally friendly urethane containing no formaldehyde.

When cork is subjected to pressure, the gas in the cells is compressed and volume reduces considerably. When released from pressure, the cork recovers very rapidly to its original shape. Cork is remarkably resistant to wear, as it is less affected by impact and friction than other hard surfaces, because of its cellular composition.

Natural cork is a fire inhibitor, which means it will not spread flames. Cork, also, does not release any toxic gases on combustion. Another major benefit is the fact that cork is antimicrobial and insect repellent. Even termites are unwelcome. Perhaps, the most valuable asset of cork flooring is the ease of maintenance. Today, waxing is no longer needed, because sweeping and mopping will be the usual maintenance. A few years down the road when the finish starts to wear off, simply lightly sand the floor and reapply a new coat of urethane and your floor will last for several decades.
