Intruder Alarms - By: Jenna Jones

Aid Both the Homeowners and the Police|House owners and Police Both Benefit from Intruder Alarms}Before intruder alarms were even invented, most households depended on security guards or a dog to hold the homes safe from theft or vandalism. Sorry to say, this wasn't a one hundred percent thing and most of the time it was expensive and not too reliable. Some went so far as to get guns to guard their homes and families but most of the time this caused more problems than an actual solution. Since then, intruder alarms have seen a gradual increase in the demand in the installation in homes and offices. The intruder alarms put in were then connected for monitoring to the area police or to a private security agency.

The installation of intruder alarms allowed the police to patrol far out areas which needed attention. Before the intruder alarms, police departments had to employ countless employees for crime prevention, today there's less demand for the employment. It was now easier for the police department to channel their forces for those areas which needed attention. The new technology made things easier for police and the homeowners. The forty years that have gone by since it had been first introduced has saved billions of taxpayer's money. The money saved also meant that less people had to get employed for security duties. However, this doesn't mean that crime has ceased. Despite the intruder alarms installed, homes could still be invaded and there are actually gadgets that are made which might be substandard and are more of a nuisance than a solution.

Specific standards have to be met and protocols established for each intruder alarm system installed. This isn't an easy alarm where it can be just screwed on and left to work on its own. Each intruder alarm has to be connected to some monitoring agency where it could be maintained and updated frequently to ensure optimum performance. Any intruder who steps within the bounds of a intruder alarm will immediately set it off which will them be relayed to the monitoring system of a security agency or police department. The minutes that it takes for the intruder to set off the alarm may be very critical for this is a window of opportunity to catch the intruder while still within the premises. Technology still continues to enhance on the systems by including digital communications which can help save on resources and response.
