The much anticipated and long overdue UK launch of internet tv, catch up tv and general video website Hulu has, we hear hit a stumbling block over advertising revenue of course.
The video giant wants the right to sell advertising space on the UK version but TV networks Channel 4 and ITV who own much of the content that will be broadcast dont want to play ball.
Reports suggest that the UK based networks are looking to have control over the ads that get shown before, during and after their content gets streamed.
Hulu is currently making deals left, right and centre. They just finished on a deal with Endemol and Digital Rights Group bringing UK shows like Green Wing and Peep Show to US watchers. The deal also helps make the UK launch happen as the users there will want to see a selection of both domestic and international streams that Hulu has in its locker.
This glitch is just thought to be part of the negotiating process and the deal is still on but Hulu will have to give a little more control over ads and revenue. The UK networks are currently having a very hard time during this ‘credit crunch’.
The UK networks are also encouraged by the fact that Channel 4 made a deal recently with Google allowing them control of ad sales on its Youtube content. This deal was a first between the UK TV broadcasters and Youtube and is expected to be the first of many as the internet TV landscape evolves.
From the side of Hulu, they are desperate to go international and secure more premium tv streams, so Channel 4 and ITV are in a very strong position.
Does’nt help if your sitting in the UK waiting to watch that great Hulu content though does it?

We all have either done it, are doing it or know someone that does it. What am i reffering to? Twittering of course. And the Twitter phenomenon is coming to your Internet enabled TV thanks to Samsung.

Samsung have jumped on the social media bandwagon and added a Twitter widget to their Internet@TV service. This means an end to watching television all on your own, you can slag off the TV show or movie your watching with millions of other twitters.
Although internet users and mobile phones have had a twitter app this is the first time its available straight from your new television set. The models that have this feature enabled include the Samsung LED 6000, 7000 and 8000 TVs, and Samsung 6 and 7 series LCD televisions.
Their tv sets are already enabled to use YouTube, Flickr and Yahoo content from Internet enabled TVs .
Now TV can truly start becoming interactive. You can discuss politics, the news or even Susan Boyle on Britains got talent!

I just had a conversation with someone who had last watched internet tv a year and a half ago, but he had stopped watching. I told him to check it out now and he was amazed. His comment was:- “Internet TV has come out of the dark ages”
Watching any video via the Internet used to be hard work. Lousy quality, long loading times and jerky playback were the best features! Then you had lousy audio, the stream freezing or just stopping, it is no wonder some people watched then instantly decided to do something more productive and interesting. Like stare at a blank wall!
Now though, the new age of internet TV has ushered in high quality picture (even HD), great audio, fast streaming. The amount of new content and sites appearing is staggering when you look back at how it used to be. And of course now you can connect that internet tv stream up to your TV
Previously, hooking up to your pc to tv looked like hard work, but now its easy peasy. Just by looking at your PC and TV sockets will usually find a match and thats the one to use. You will find on most modern computers and laptops an S-Video socket or even HDMI.
So if you have not watched any online video or tv streams, i would suggest you try again. If you have a decent spec PC and a fast connection to the net, you will be amazed at how much free tv content is available from around the world.
