Intelligent Marketing and Digital Printing - By: Allan Michael Taylor

Sales literatures, which include flyers, brochures, and catalogs, are staple tools in a business' marketing platform. Thanks to the fast-paced growth of the software industry, these materials can easily be designed and conceptualized given the abundance computer tools and programs. Much of the cost left in generating these marketing materials however goes to the printing process, causing hundreds to thousands of dollars every month, depending on the size of company.

Today, businesses have greater advantages in maximizing financial and non-financial resources due to new and innovative technologies in printing. Digital printing, in particular, has revolutionized the world of marketing in as much as it provided a way to pull off a great step up in cost-conservation, speed, and quality. Today's digital printing technologies climbed so far that the finished products are almost similar to what traditional offset printing process churns out. Compared to offset printing, digital printing is friendlier to small businesses since it can accommodate jobs with minimum quantities, not mentioning it can easily troubleshoot printing errors since every sheet comes out of the machine uniquely.

Though digital printing offers a lot of advantages design-wise, there are several elements that you need to personally decide on in order to get hold of superior marketing materials. These elements if properly and efficiently managed can definitely enhance the quality of prints, and the reputation of the business in general.

Choose the Better Paper

You probably have read countless of brochures in your life time, and perhaps you are aware that the weight and thickness of the paper participates in establishing a good or bad impression in the marketing material. If it is printed on a very light and thin paper, it looks like having come out of a cheap inkjet printer. Conversely if it is nearly thick as a cardboard, readers will feel a kind of regret in not reading it. In other words , using a heavier and thicker paper may persuade your potential customers to be interested in your product and service offerings.

Choose the Most Appropriate Print Size

You don't have to hand out flyers and brochures as huge as an 8.5 x 11. Consider the amount of information and images you'll be sharing to readers and imagine what paper size can best present them. Experiment in print sizes, folds, and forms until you come up with the right print size. To get rid of any hassles, however, make sure that the printing company offers the setup size that you want. Also, print a sample that's rendered as exactly and as accurately as how you want the prints to be. Note that one of the worst printing errors very difficult to correct is stretching or shrinking the layout just to fit in the paper.

Resolution is the Solution

To generate more professional-looking sales literatures, make it a commitment to use high-resolution images in your layout. A pixilated photo sends a message that the company does not know how to market itself. If a company can't fix unsightly pixels, how can it guarantee that they won't screw up in their business? Remember that the images you see on the monitor most of the time does not reflect what they actually look like when printed.
