Innovation seems to be the buzz word these days to weeks. Everyone seems to be following & applying it. From big corporations on the small start up entrepreneurial ventures, everyone's using the phrase, following blindly, wasting options & getting nowhere. Browse through the internet & you can find the word written with every consulting & customer website. But the question one should ask is, are we receiving the appetite for innovation? Or do you find it that its being followed being a fad? What are the innovations necessary for my business? Would it be smart to follow company X innovation strategy, which is in some other unrelated sector? How do i institutionalize innovation in my own organization? Is technology innovation ideal for me?

If you ever carefully observe & read between the lines, the above questions boil down to two points - meaning of innovation for your organization & attitude in the direction of it. For example, with regard to GE, innovation would be to create a great idea with climate control or emission drop, while the same phrase for Apple would mean to come up with something creatively innovative & useful for its target audience while doing so, & which would satisfy some kind of a latent demand. For some other businesses, like food processing sector it would mean to come up with some kind of new ready to paste which can be added to any Asian food being wanting to increase the shelf life of the dish. While for many others like Stan Chart, it can mean great ideas that will improve their efficiency & customer convenience at the same time.

Now getting back to the agenda, innovation means any improvement, small and big, radical or disruptive, slow or fast, that improves any of your metrics in any purpose of business. innovation
