Information Used In Insurance Quotes - By: John Denvert

All states require that drivers carry some sort of coverage on their vehicles. These policies protect the other driver, if the insured person is found to be at fault. Some policies even pay for the insured party's expenses as well. When people are seeking insurance quotes, their preferred provider uses a range of information to establish their policy's prices.

Most companies consider first the age of the driver. Both teenage and senior citizen drivers often pay more for coverage than other drivers do. They are penalized because their age demographics statistically become involved in more accidents than other people might. Teenagers are thought to be more prone to engage in risky behavior, such as speeding. Seniors have slower reaction times, thus making themselves more vulnerable to being in an accident.

Providers also consider whether or not a person has been charged or convicted of any alcohol or drug related offenses. People who have been arrested or jailed because of their drug and alcohol use often pay much higher premiums than sober people pay. Many providers have low tolerance for these kinds of offenses. If these individuals secure coverage, they often must pay higher premiums for up to one year, or until they exhibit behavior that makes them trustworthy, such as avoiding additional charges.

Companies also contemplate how old the client's car is before establishing a price. Older cars are insured at lower prices than newer cars. New cars are more costly to repair and may end up costing the company more money. Older cars often can be insured for as little as fifty dollars per month for full coverage policies.

Where a person lives also is taken into consideration. Clients who live in urban areas sometimes face higher premium charges. More traffic in a city makes the chances of that person's being in an accident higher.

When people ask for insurance quotes, they in turn are asked for certain information. These facts are used to establish how much they pay each month.
