Improving Your Health With Organic Herbal Teas - By: Tamar Slay

Enjoying a cup of aromatic tea beverage does not have to come from the tea leaves themselves. Certain herbs, dried fruits and flowers can be made into an infusion and enjoyed as tea drinks.
Such a practice can be dated back to Ancient Egypt, as tisanes or herbal infusions were made out from the organic floras that were discovered to have health benefits. Tisane, another term for an herbal infusion, wherein dried leaves, seeds, fruits, roots or barks of a plant were mixed in boiling water, has gained popularity over the years for its numerous health benefits.
The taste varies depending on the herb or plant used and the flavoring added to it. We can choose from a sweetened to a slightly bitter feel but the aroma is somehow similar as the infusion brings out a tangy and astringent scent that soothes us even before drinking.
Tisanes have become part of culinary world as famous chefs bring out a variety of exciting infusions from common herb plants such as Rose Hips, Peppermint, Chamomile, and berries.
What attracted the majority are the popularized health benefits of herbal teas. Depending however on the plant used for the concoction, the benefits include a relaxing and calming effect to the body. It supports heart health by promoting a good circulation, cleanses the body from toxins, boosts energy, and promotes an improvement in overall health.
Certain organic herbal teas are well-known for their specific health advantages. To relieve common colds and stomach upsets, Allspice can be used. Chamomile is famous for its soothing effect because of its anti-inflammatory capacity. Ginger, for centuries, has been used to relieve nausea, colds, indigestion and migraine headaches; and Cinnamon, also known for its calming effect, is said to improve blood circulation.
Different varieties of herbal teas are now being sold in the market for us to choose from. Our choices can be narrowed down according to taste, aroma, preparation (whether powdered or loose leaf), and the health effects we would want to avail of. These concoctions have been part of the daily routines of the majority; to some, it is their morning dose of coffee.
