Improvements of 4G Technology - By: ATV

When the first 4G phones appeared there wasn¡¯t as much of an uproar as one would expect. This may be because unlike 3G, there is no international standard to coordinate the various phones, smartphones or other devices¡¯ manufacturers. Everyone just goes on to develop their own 4G network with little consideration to what competition has.
Well, actually, there is something like a technical definition under the guidance of the UN. In it, there are specified conditions needed to be passed in order for a network to be considered 4G. The sad part is that no one meets those requirements. What this means is that none of the 4G phones, tables and so on are actually 4G.
In practice, Android phones and the latest smartphones have the highest speeds of 12 or 13 Mbps. That is a very good value that can overtake even home broadband connections, but it is still a long way behind the 100 Mbps milestone.
What these devices, labeled as 4G, should be called is closer to 3.5G or something like that. However, since 3G, the name is well known to the general public. The marketing departments decided to label better speeds 4G. And this fact is quite understandable considering that speeds are indeed higher than before and the same general public doesn¡¯t care about such details.
Except for specialists, tech lovers and stickers for correctness, no one really cares if the name of something does not correspond to regulations. What customers want from their Android phones is higher speeds, and since they got it, why bother with something trivial like a name?
Let¡¯s get this clear: This is not something bad. As long as the companies that offer these services make good on their promises of speed, security, service, reliability and all that, they can call their products whatever they want.
Plus it can actually be a good thing, as branding something as 4G simplifies things for users. No need to remember all the other techs behind the scenes like LTE, HSPA Plus and other such acronyms. If you don¡¯t work in the industry it doesn¡¯t really have any importance.
The bottom line is that even though present 4G phones are not ¡°truly¡± 4G, they are faster than before. Browsing through the web with any of the Android phones or equivalent devices requires less patience and is more rewarding.
