Improvements In The Efficiency Of Work - By: Craig T. Calvin

There are several ways to make enhancements in the efficiency of your work. There are always places that could be tweaked and improved, and everyone could easily find ways to do it. The trouble begins when you have resistance and sometimes outright defiance. There are different reasons for this and different people will have varying reasons for being resistance, but it all comes down to how much they understand that the change will be beneficial.

It is common for just about anybody that works anywhere to hesitate and question why changes have to be made. Even if those changes seem reasonable on the surface, they are still easy to criticize and question. It must be human nature and sometimes I think it just comes down to the fact that individuals don't like being told what to do and are just plain skeptical when it comes to management.

Of course management is concerned more with the bottom line and the shareholders, but to a certain extent, they must be mindful of their employees. So when management comes to the employees and tell them that there need to be some changes to help out, they will naturally assume that the changes are being put into place to help the company; and not the employees.

The changes might even make their particular jobs even harder and more difficult than they already are. This kind of behavior and sentiment can put a wedge between management and the employees which is already a precarious relationship to begin with. There will never be perfect harmony because one group are the haves and one group are the have not's. So they will always be suspicious of one another and one will always be jealous of the other.

Management thinks that they are better than the other group because they have either more schooling or worked harder than the rest and the employees always think that management is stupid because they cannot function in the real world. But simply because they cannot function in the real world doesn't mean that they are not able to come up with good ideas and ways to become more efficient. The reality is, it really should be everybody's job to look for these sorts of things. Imagine how much more could be seen with many more pairs of eyes looking. If it's a good thing for one person to be looking for ways to improve, doesn't it make sense that a hundred pairs of eyes could easily discover more?
