SDHC cards (Secure Digital High Capacity Cards) are the natural evolution from the regular SD cards (Secure Digital…) which have much the same appearance and compatibility but allow for up to an extra 30gb of storage giving the highest end cards a total capacity of 32gb – that’s 1,500% more and at the same price that you would once have expected to pay for the original flash drives. This gives you an incredibly versatile piece of technology that can drastically improve the specs or the functionality of a variety of gadgets. Following is a list of items that are SDHC card compatible and how they can benefit from them:

PDAs: PDA stands for ‘Personal Digital Assistant’ and that’s precisely what they are – advanced data pads that keep your phone book, calendar, daily schedule and other useful information and allow you to access e-mail, word documents and other data on the go. These days however PDAs have become even more advanced and now usually come with the full compliment of Windows software including Media Player and more. This means that you can use both play MP3s and watch video files on the move. Phones: Like PDAs, phones are becoming more and more integrative including a whole range of functions at your fingertips. Today phones regularly have inbuilt MP3 players and cameras and often allow you to browse the web too. High-end expensive phones for listening to MP3s are only different from their lower-end counterparts in the side of their internal memory. By buying a cheaper phone and inserting a large SDHC card then you can save money and end up with more memory as a result.

Cameras: Today digital cameras have largely overtaken their analogue counterparts for their ease of use and advanced options. If you’re heading on holiday however with just a digital camera you can risk filling up its memory which means carefully picking which pictures you’re going to keep and potentially deleting some you might otherwise have not. As most cameras come with no more than a 2gb SD card, purchasing something larger such as a SDHC card can be a smart move and allows you to go as snap happy as you like.

MP3 Players: Picking out your favourite songs to add to your MP3 players is a fun task, but with the 1 or 2gb options you’ll risk very quickly becoming tired of your selection and going off some of your top tunes. With an SDHC card you can fit pretty much your entire CD collection on one device to give you hours of happy listening.
