Import Export Trade Leads - By: Irma Wallace

If you make products and want to sell them overseas, or if you want to import products from other countries and sell them, then you will want to seek out import export trade leads. In international commerce, goods that are manufactured and sold to other countries are export goods or materials. If you purchase goods or materials from another country and bring them to your own country and sell them, then you are importing these goods and services. Because of the many different costs, legal and cultural issues involved in import export trade, experienced resources and a location to find information on leads for import and export goods and services are very important to business success.

Different companies approach their importing and exporting businesses in varying ways. Sometimes manufacturers have a separate import and export department, with operations contained within the company. In this case, your trade lead will be the contact within that company. In other cases, manufacturers will not have their own import export department, and will instead choose to outsource their products and business to an import export consulting or management company that may handle a number of different manufacturers and different products.

Another factor to consider when searching for import export trade leads is the use of freight forwarders and shipping companies. You will want to take advantage of the services of a freight service company to be sure that you are complying with import and export rules at the product's company of origin and at the destination country. Rules, regulations, required documents and licenses can be very complex. You will want to seek experience and value when working with a freight forwarding and shipping service company.

You will want to market your company well when seeking suppliers and buyers for your import export trade business. You can visit international trade boards and online forums, and use them to contact other international business traders. You can also investigate advertising your company in international trade and export publications, and consider joining an international trade association. On a local level, chambers of commerce and boards of industry have associations to promote and increase business in general. And finally, participating in trade shows and exhibits, both in your local area and internationally, can be a place for you to meet business partners that will benefit your import export trade business.
