If You Detest Playing Golf When The Wind Gets Up Then Read On - By: Don Saunders

If you are just starting to play golf then probably the last thing you want to see is bad weather. After all it is difficult enough getting to grips with the basics of the game in fair weather and well-nigh impossible if you are trying to do so in a high wind or in the pouring rain.

But things begin to change once you have a bit of experience and confidence and one thing that I love about golf is that the weather can change the playing conditions in a matter of moments and present the players with a new and always different set of challenges. This adds to the fun of the game where I am concerned and is something which ought to be be embraced with enthusiasm.

So, next time you are out on the golf course do not allow frustration to get the better of you and abandon your round but rather press on and delight in the challenge of your new playing conditions.

Now playing in a high wind is going to do nothing to improve your score but the secret is to merely recognize this fact and not to let it worry you. There is no have to let the poor weather conditions stress you out and playing in bad weather conditions is simply a matter of adopting a positive mental attitude.

The secret is to expect that the wind will do its very best to challenge you as you make every shot and bring that well hit drive up short or send that perfectly hit approach shot scurrying clear across the green. The wind is going to try to take your ball in all directions except the one in which you want it go and you are going to find yourself slicing and hooking to right and left with more than a few lost balls. But this is nothing more than the inevitability of letting the weather in as a playing partner and it can be very interesting to pit your wits against the force of Mother Nature.

Yet another secret to playing in bad weather conditions is to recognize the old proverb that the more you push against something the harder it pushes back. And So, do not attempt to fight Mother Nature but be cunning and learn to use her to your own advantage.

If you are addressing the ball on the tee with a strong wind blowing from right to left cross the hole for instance then see how well you are able to judge Mother Nature by gauging just how far to the right you need to hit the ball and still get it to land on target.

It can be nice to potter around the course on a still and sunny day with friends however, more often than not, the day will also turn out to be extremely predictable. Add in a strong wind blowing the leaves around the course and suddenly things can become much more interesting.
