When it comes to skin diseases scabies is both common and very contagious. This is because it can be transmitted through direct contact, sharing clothing and sleeping in the same bed. When people are in close quarters such as dormitories, schools and skilled nursing facilities it can also be passed around.

When you check out the rash images of scabies, you’ll see that it is quite similar to the rashes of other skin conditions such as atopic eczema. Because of this, people would often find it difficult to identify whether they already have scabies or not. However, with proper research and a skilled physician you will get the correct diagnosis.

Usually, scabies rashes occur in areas of the body with creases. These areas would be the elbows, wrist areas, stomach, in between fingers, and the back area. It will initially begin as itching until it further develops into eruptions. This happens as an allergic reaction to the mite's saliva and waste products. The allergic reaction starts off as severe itching that becomes worse during night time. The formation red pimples, pustules and blisters then can develop.

The lesions from scabbies can also resemble poison oak, atopic eczema, psoriasis, and other skin infections. This is the main reason why scabies is quite difficult to diagnose. Physicians may do a skin scraping or take a biopsy. However, often a biopsy will not show traces of scabies organisms.

Scabies can be treated a prescription cream that contains permethrin at five percent. It is important you don't buy otc lice formulas which are a much reduced percentage of the agent. Aside from that, in India and other countries neem oil and tumeric are used.

Since scabies is contagious, the people who are living with the patient infected with this condition should also be treated with medication simultaneously even if they are not symptomatic.

Though you can't always avoid contracting scabies, you should try to use hand sanitizer during the day and avoid to share personsal belongings such as your towel, clothing, and bedding. You should also keep these personal belongings clean all the time because the parasites can live in clothing and bedding up to 2 to 3 days. Also be sure need to boost your immune system by eating healthy foods and
taking vitamins . Comparing rash images on the internet can cause a lot of anxiety so don't assume it is scabies without getting verification from a physician.
