Kaarthikeyan, Padma Shri, Chairman, ASSOCHAM’s National Council on Installations, Premises & Personnel Security (IPPS).

Inaugurating the event, Shri D. R. Kaarthikeyan, Padma Shri, Chairman, ASSOCHAM’s National Council on Installations, Premises & Personnel Security (IPPS) said, “Terrorism is always changing. The way I am looking at terrorism today, is not the way I looked at it yesterday. Security is a very difficult topic. Security is everybody's business. It will be achievable only with everyone's cooperation, an intelligent policy, and consistent practices.”

IFSEC India has partnered with ASSOCHAM and the theme for this year Homeland Security India Conference is titled “War against terror- A challenge to our Homeland Security”. The Homeland Security India Conference 2011 is a vital event for all homeland and commercial security professionals in both the public and private sector in India.

If terrorism represents a small fraction of the overall economic risk in India, it may have a large impact on the allocation of productive capital across the country. In any part of the world terrorism is unwanted as it not only kills the human life but also the infrastructure and industry, ultimately shackling its overall growth.

The security industry, which has been growing in India at 25% over the past 5-7 years, would achieve a growth rate of 125% by 2012. India's Private Security Agency (Regulation) Act of 2005 has aided industry growth and it is expected to touch Rs50,000 crore as security becomes top priority for India.

With the mushrooming of shopping malls, special economic zones, self-contained townships, IT parks and other exclusive facilities, demand for private security services in India is expected to soar over the coming years. The private sector corporates have increased their spending on safeguards after the Mumbai terror strikes, which have been repeatedly occuring in India. The industry body, ASSOCHAM reckons, that corporates are likely to scale up their security budgets by 35-40%.

Mr. Nigel Brown, Director, Exhibition said, “IFSEC India 2011 is a great industry platform to highlight the innovative global security solutions that has become imperative in the current scenario with threat perceptions looming large in developing economies. Our aim is to harness the international best practices and mitigate the inherent risks faced by the government, corporates and civilians.”

Amongst the prominent and most reputed industry names in the business of safety & security the will be present at the exhibition viz., ADI, Aditya, ANG India , Arise, Axis, BGI, BOSCH, DVTel, Everfocus, FAAC, Godrej, Gunnebo, HID, HIKVISION, Honeywell Security, Indigo Vision, Kores, Kufra, LG, Matrix, Miscrosoft, Morpho, NEC, Neural, Panasonic, Samriddhi Automation (SPARSH), Turbo, Tyco, Vectra, Verint etc . IFSEC India 2011 is aimed at bringing together under one roof the security experts from various industries including financial services, infrastructure, public safety, law enforcement retail, realty and hospitality – all searching for the latest products and services in the security market.
