ICC Conference 2010 Kampala - Uganda - By: Jamie Hanson

The ICC CONFERENCE IN Kampala is from 31st May to 11th June. The place is in Uganda and nearly two thousand dignitaries from all over the world, expected to attend. Lot of people are expected to attend the conference. They will come from across the world. The meeting is for observer states, representatives having observer status, other representatives from different governments and other interested parties. The invitation was from General Assembly in Rome conference in 1998. Many others like the media, press, radio, film, TV, and several information sources are invited.

The conference place is 12 km from the state capital. The conference is set up to take place at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort. It is an important meeting and an honour for Uganda to convene the same. Perhaps it is the first time that Uganda is hosting such a huge gathering and providing opportunity to other countries to interact with other people. Uganda has always fought for justice at the national and international level after President Idi Amin. The state has suffered the btutality and brunt of atrocities, goes undefined. The victims today question that why and where is the court of law. This may be the single opportunity to understand and decide the role of that court.

Uganda wanted a conference way back in June 2007 and this conveyed to states, which had similar brunt over the last century. This occasion will provide to understand the function of the court and its appraisal. This country has been striving for recognition and appreciation from the world. The country has signed the Rome statue in 2003 and referred itself to ICC. It has successfully handled the international conference in 2007, where the Queen of Britain was present.

The present scheduled convention away from the State capital where adequate protection taken for the dignitaries. Moreover, the International Court of justice is likely to meet in Kampala to review the initial proceedings. The intention is to review and prosecute the horrendous criminals of the globe. USA will sign the final pact. Many things, which are essential for United States, like the definition of crime and aggression will come into discussion. If the thought of USA adopted then the court can prosecute anyone who wages a war against the state.

Apart from other places, delegates may opt to reside in Hotel Ruch, which is very convenient, and of superior standard, available in Kampala. Adequate security provision initiated.
