Treating head lice isn't a problem for many people, most of the difficulty lies in actually seeing the head lice as you need someone else to look at your scalp.

If you find head lice on a person or your children, you can actually treat the problem with items found in many kitchens rather than having to rush off to the pharmacist to buy a range of expensive insecticides. Preventing head lice

Ultimately, the best way to prevent head lice is to check the hair regularly using a stainless steel comb which has strong teeth. Because of the strength of teeth, the comb should assist with removing the nits (eggs) from the hair. Bare in mind, this only removes the eggs and any actual head lice may still be in the head. It is also suggested to apply plenty of hair conditioner to dry hair making the task easier and more effective.

Tie long hair back or put it up if possible as it helps keep stray hair strand from contacting with other heads; Avoid sharing combs or brushes or put combs and brushes in hot water for at least 10 minutes to kill head lice or nits in them

Ultimately, if you have a head lice problem, it is recommended to use remedies to treat the problem. There are products including head bands and caps which contain insecticides which may help however these products need to be worn all the time and do not kill all head lice eggs. As mentioned before, insecticides may also cause irritation or worse allergic reactions. Therefore, the use of home remedies for head lice is strongly recommended.
