1. Perfection Can be a Myth

If you ever had to put all the secrets into one, this would be it. Many sales reps make an effort to impress their clients while using the perfect speech, perfect whiteboard display and perfect moves. There's more happens? It backfires.

People don't see all your hard work and attempt. They just know which it feels slick and results in as unbelievable.

Trying way too hard . to be perfect can be a surefire recipe for failure.

two. Fail On Purpose

Go the contrary direction. Be the contrarian. Fail on purpose. Push yourself to take a step imperfect. Recover. Try all over again. That quote from Samuel Beckett is a wonderful inspiration. Where could people fail today?

The interesting thing about failing deliberately is it crosses the wires in your brain. You can't get yourself so seriously. Not surprisingly... you just did that unthinkable. You tried to help fail. While trying, you'll find out a myriad of fascinating, juicy and important things. And your skills can improve.

3. Test The Edges

If your colleagues are perfecting their skills in animation and slides... test the cover. Push the edges. Generate a low-tech flipchart and also whiteboard.

Try this once and you should never go back. When I've drawn and sketched out a project or answer, people fight to keep the chart. Do you truly get people fighting over your slide? Not probable.

Test your edges. You're in for some delightful news. Your boss can be a visual thinker. Your customer prefers a one-page graphic map. Your prospect loves the sketch you did. Hey, if you don't test it... you'll never find out.

4. Innovate New Solutions

Even though you're exploring, failing and testing, new ideas show up. You'll start to perform for a higher level than ones fellow sales reps. You'll differentiate yourself because of your creativity and innovation.

What new solutions are you going to discover? A way to whiteboard the exact thing that everyone provides trouble explaining. How to show strategy in a very simple sketch. How to teach everyone on your team this sketch. How to use this sketch inside your website, marketing materials together with client interactions... the sky could be the limit.

Only you can find out.

5. Your Story Is Your Brand

When you use whiteboard story selling in client meetings, team meetings, and strategy sessions... some sort of curious thing happens. The lights embark on. The bell sounds. That feels right.
