However, factor in the value of your time and energy when you calculate your self-moving costs. 2. Next, make a visit to your new home to list any repairs, painting or carpet cleaning or replacement work to be done before you move in. It is always better to change the locks if you are moving into anything other than a brand-new home.
3. List out any record transfers and changes of addresses that have to be made with the post office, credit card companies, doctors, dentists, banks and magazine and other subscriptions. Determine if your current bank is available in your new locale or if other arrangements must be made.
