Is your computer running slower than it used to? If its does, there is a chance that your computer might be infected by adware and spyware, which really affects computer speed.

Adware, software programmed to advertise, usually comes out by instantly appearing on computer screens. These advertisements are very catchy and attractive to easily catch the attention of computer users and encourage them to click the advertisement hyperlinks. Spyware, on the other hand, is another software but programmed to send out the personal information of the computer user, typically the username and password, to a third party. This third party will use such gathered information to send unwanted advertisements. This is how the source of adware and spyware make money: through advertisements.

Both adware and spyware are nuisances to computer users. Aside from disturbing the computer usage, it also trespasses the boundary of privacy and slows down computer speed. Fortunately, adware and spyware CAN be prevented from being installed in your computer. If it is already installed, there are ways to remove adware and spyware.

There are many software designed to detect and remove adware and spyware. Most of this can be downloaded for free in the Internet and others may be bought in the form of installers saved in compact discs. When cleaning the computer of adware and spyware, be sure that you are disconnected from the internet. Both adware and spyware travel from its source to another computer through the Internet. So, the more time you are connected through the Internet, the more chance your computer will be affected.

To remove adware and spyware may sometimes be easy. Because both are software, both may be removed by hitting the “uninstall” button of the programs. An adware or spyware program may be found in the Add/Remove Program of the control panel. If you know the file name of the nuisance programs, you can scan your hard drives to find and remove it. Just be sure that you reboot your computer after uninstalling an adware or spyware to ensure that the unwanted programs are totally erased from the computer.

Next step is to fully scan the computer for other adware or spyware. But to do this, you need an updated anti-virus software installed in your computer. This will scan your computer and detect the source of your computer viruses and the files infected. The anti-virus program will then allow you to clean the files infected, quarantine, or delete if needed to be. Without adware or spyware, computer speed will run in its normal phase.
