No matter if you are a student who is trying to remember the book’s content, or if you are a business person who wants to stay mentally sharp, there are lots of things you can

do to improve the memory. You can enhance and sharpen up your memory by living a healthy life or by implementing particular memory-enhancing activities. Check the following list

with suggestions and choose the one that fits you best in your lifestyle.

Develop healthy sleeping habit

It’s a known fact that sleep and memory are interconnected. Many studies have shown that not getting enough sleep can hurt your memory. Having a poor night sleep can make you

mentally weak and forgetful.

So, if you want to improve your memory try to develop a constant sleeping habit of 6-8 hours. If you can not stick to this sleeping routine, take short naps during the day.

Taking a nap, especially after learning something new, can help you better memorize that particular information.

Eat “brain boosting foods”

There are certain foods that help to improve your memory. These so-called “brain foods” include nuts, mils, eggs, fish, bananas, vegetable, blueberries, whole grains, kidney

beans etc. If you are experiencing frequent forgetfulness, you should include these foods in your daily meals as much as possible. Those who don’t have the possibility to eat

these kinds of foods can take vitamins in tablet form (B12, B9 and B6). They affect the brain functions positively.

Give your brain a good workout

As every other part of the body, the brain needs exercise to stay in shape. The best brain exercises are those who break your daily routine and challenge you to think in a new

way. When you challenge the brain to solve unfamiliar problems, you are giving your brain a great workout. For an example, solving crossword puzzles or playing hidden object

games are definitely good brain exercises. They are fun and they challenge you to solve different kinds of problems. The more engaged you are in the activity, the bigger

benefits you’ll experience. So, go ahead. Find some interesting hidden object game on the internet and start your memory improvement.

Try to make mental picture of the information

People usually tend to forget places, names, dates or events. It is simply because some of the information that we get from the outside world are boring and don’t have effect on

our imagination. If you want to improve your memory and recall the information easily, try to associate the words/information with mental pictures. Turning the words into images

can help you memorize the words better.

Make small changes in your environment

How many times you have read a text and don’t remember a word from the text? If you are facing with this kind of troubles, try to make a little change in your working/learning

environment. For an example, try to change the font of the letters. Choose a font that is much harder to read. That way you’ll force the brain to focus much better on the

information – says a study made by Indiana University.
