How to decorate log cabins. - By: Arthor Greenwald

So there it is sitting proudly in your back garden. Your one of the lucky breed of home owner boasting log cabins out back. It looks great doesn't it? No matter whether you bought it as a treat for kids, some additional home working space or as a nice architectural talking point for your guests, you're going to need to kit it out and decorate it.

Don't panic just because you're not an interior designer. You don't have to Lawrence Llewellyn-Bowen to make a good job of it. And guess what. It can be fun too. Be bold and get creative. You'll be surprised at how much design flair and imagination you actually have.

Log cabins are most likely a natural wooden design so when it comes to decorating you want fixtures and furnishings to accentuate its folksy charm. The worst design mistake you can make with log cabins is to cover up too much floor and wall space. If you do this you run the risk of losing the natural feel of the place.

Take a good look around around your new log cabin to get a good feel for how you're going to kit it out. The three factors to consider when planning your design theme are texture, colour and space. The hardest part is getting started. If you're stuck, choose a table first and base the rest of your decorations around it. A traditional wooden table is a great focal point for your log cabin.

When it comes to chairs and sofas, dark colours work best in this type of environment. For warmth add in some rugs, throws and plants and your cabin will look great. The UK is blessed with many different furniture stores. Bide your time for the sale or shop online if you want to grab yourself a bargain.
