How to choose the best printer paper - By: Rutland

Whether you have an inkjet or laser printer you will find that they both print on a variety of surfaces. These days this can include photo paper, labels, business cards, t-shirt transfers and stickers. However in the main you’ll probably be using your ink cartridges or ink toner on standard white printing paper and the variety of options to choose from is vast. If you own a laser printer you can pretty much pick any type of paper to carry out your print projects. However inkjet printers need carefully selected paper for the best results. Here is a guide on the best print paper for your ink cartridges:

Inkjet printer paper A standard printing paper will still give you a result but for high quality printing a specific paper made for printer ink is the best choice. The quality of the printing will be affected in two ways: absorption and brightness.

Absorption If you want a high quality print out you need a paper that does not absorb ink readily. The less printer ink that is absorbed the better the page will look. When ink is absorbed the inkjet dots start to feather making lines indistinct and blurred. High quality papers are covered in a waxy coating allowing precise detail in your print work. You can also with some paper print at a very high resolution due to the coat.

Brightness In the same way that less ink absorbed equals a higher quality print so does a better brightness. Brightness actually relates to how smooth the paper is. The smoothness of paper will denote how much light is reflected which then affects how bright the images and text looks on the page. The smoother or brighter the paper used, the better the end result. At Internet Inks we stock printer cartridges for both laser and inkjet printers.
